ahhhhhhhhhh saturday morning a busy day the morning was spent at the stables with Robyn and Lizzi (horse), then came back got Brackens wheels out to go to the park. at the park I glanced at Bracken and froze, a huge lump on her jaw bone about the size of a walnut had appeared, how had we missed that, panick set in, mind going after all this time bone cancer has returned and on her jaw, phoned the vet from the park and rushed home to get the car. (Once again we are so lucky, an emergency call out over the weekend, why do my dogs never get sick on weekdays???) Rush to the vet, waiting for him to tell us it has returned joy of joy its pus Bracken has a badly infected tooth, so back home with antibiotics and an appointment to have the tooth extracted the following Thursday.
How bracken was managing to eat was beyone me, the day before she had crunched her way through pork scratchings and bonio biscuits, eaten all her dinner no problem, and still continued to do so with a rotten pus filled tooth in her mouth, yes she is a true labrador, food comes first, born to eat!!!
Thursday came, we were worried about her having the anaesephitic, due to her larangical paralysis, knowing the removal of the throat tube could make her airways collapse, but the vet was excellent, gave her different drugs to normal to control the sylivia etc, and ended up pulling three teeth, but they had to cut the bone to do the extraction as this was the quickest way to get the teeth out and bring her back round. when he cut the bone pus shot out across the operating theatre, yes again the question how was she managing to eat!! Guess it is simply she is a labrador, she came home and we only gave her half her dinner (chicken and rice) she was having none of that and made a fuss till she eventually got the rest!! then settled for the night, seemingly unaware that she has a mouth full of stitches!!!
Today she is fine, you would never know she had a small op yestereday, nothing seems to hold her back bless her.
